Hair Do at the Children's Art House

From the Novel, Hair Do, written by Shona Hammond Boys, QSM National Director of the New Zealand Children`s Art House Foundation, comes the short film Hair Do at the Children`s Art House.  Filmed with young artists in the Ōpōtiki Children`s Art House 2018, Hair Do represents young creators searching for a place to develop their talents in the community. Hair Do speaks clearly for Māori children and for young people throughout New Zealand. Created and supported by the volunteers and the community of Ōpōtiki. The New Zealand Children's Art House Awards - 2017

The New Zealand Children's Art Houses was an initiative lead by Shona Hammond Boys in New Zealand.  We hope you enjoy this short video by Shona, where she explains the purpose for this fantastic initiative.  

The New Zealand Children’s Art House Foundation held its annual award evening at the Paeroa Children’s Arthouse and Care house in Paeroa, New Zealand on June 16, 2017.  The evening celebrated the achievements of its members, the recent refurbishment of the Children’s Art room and present the future plans for the Youth Centre, Peace Pavilion and Art House Foundation Headquarters. Oliver Howes, a talented musician, and composer was awarded the Emerging Artist of the Year Award. Benjamin Lloyd, received the Emerging Maori Artist of the year award in part for his work at Starship Hospital where he airbrushes his artwork with young patients to boost their confidence.  Nikki Slade Robinson, received the award for the NZ Artist most contributing to Children in 2017. Laban Freeman received the Outstanding Contribution Award.
